Indian Country

Introduction
This week we will introduce the course, goals, tasks and assignments. We will also get to know each other and what our respective expectations are. You should review the syllabus to see what questions you have about the course.

Course Overview;

We will discuss the course, and what you can expect to learn about Native American society. This class is a humanities class that satisfies the cross-cultural requirements of the college. You are required to develop your understanding of another culture, which will also make you examine aspects of your own culture. By doing so, you will be led to question elements of our society, your place in it, and your responsibilities as a citizen.

Sources; Text

We are using Native American writing to explore Native American ideas about their history, culture, beliefs and futures. As these writings develop from a completely different history than our own, we have to develop a context to understand these texts. To help with this I have assigned a series of tasks which have been developed into webquests.

Due first class next week: Webquest 1 Timeline of Native American Prehistory
